Virtual Items & In‑App Purchases Policy
Applies to SocialHubNZ.com and any SocialHubNZ apps. Last updated: 25 Mar 2026.
1) What we sell
Our services may offer optional in‑app purchases (IAP) such as virtual coins, spins, boosts, badges, or other digital items (“Virtual Items”). These are for use only within our service.
2) Pricing, availability, and taxes
- Prices, bundles, and availability may vary by device, platform (e.g., Apple App Store / Google Play), region, and time.
- Any applicable taxes (including NZ GST) are shown at checkout by the store/payment provider.
- Virtual Items are delivered digitally and may be subject to store account requirements.
3) Virtual currency rules
- Virtual currency/Virtual Items have no cash value and are not redeemable for money or real‑world value.
- They are non‑transferable and may not be sold, gifted, traded, or exchanged outside the service.
- We may adjust, limit, or discontinue Virtual Items to prevent fraud, comply with law, or improve the service (we will act fairly and in line with applicable consumer law).
4) Subscriptions (if offered)
If we offer subscriptions, your store/payment provider will disclose the price, billing frequency, trial (if any), and renewal terms before you confirm. You can manage or cancel in your App Store/Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future charges; access may remain until the end of the current billing period.
5) Refunds, reversals, and chargebacks
- Purchases are generally handled by the app store/payment provider; refund decisions may be governed by that provider’s policies.
- Change‑of‑mind refunds for digital items are not guaranteed. However, New Zealand consumer protections (including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986) may apply where Virtual Items are not as described, not provided with reasonable care and skill, or otherwise fail applicable guarantees.
- If a chargeback/payment reversal occurs, we may remove associated Virtual Items, suspend related benefits, or restrict the account where appropriate to address fraud or unpaid balances.
6) Parental guidance and controls
Parents/guardians can help prevent unauthorised purchases by using device and store controls (password/biometrics for purchases, spending limits, and family controls). If you believe a minor made an unauthorised purchase, contact your app store/payment provider first and then email us with the order details.
